Mineral exploration data, deposits and tenure together
Deposits, active claims, protected land and the water to run a mine — on one map.
Mineral exploration data is only useful in pairs. A promising occurrence under an active claim is not a target, and a clear target with no water access is not a mine, so deposits, claims and supply have to be read on the same map.
Built for: Exploration geologists, junior miners, royalty companies, and land teams.
Why mineral exploration data goes wrong today
A mineral opportunity needs four things to be real: a deposit, ground that is not already claimed, land that is legally open, and water. Those live in four different federal systems, and by the time a land team has assembled them the district has usually moved.
What mineral exploration data has to answer
- What has been found here, and is the ground already staked?
- Where has claim staking accelerated in the last year, and by whom?
- Is this land GAP 3 multiple-use, or effectively closed to development?
- Is there water within reach, and who holds it?
- Does the surface owner also hold the mineral estate, or is this a split estate?
The mineral exploration data workflow
- 1
Map the geology and the history
Turn on USGS MRDS filtered to your commodity — gold, silver, copper, lithium, uranium — to see occurrences, prospects and past producers with their deposit models.
- 2
Read the claim position
Overlay active BLM claims to see who holds what. Claim density and recent staking are the earliest public signal of a forming district; gaps inside an otherwise staked block are the ones worth a second look.
- 3
Check what is legally available
PAD-US protected areas by GAP status separate multiple-use federal land from land that is closed in practice. Critical habitat and wetlands add the permitting picture on top.
- 4
Find the water
A mine without water is a study. Overlay water rights, groundwater wells and basin boundaries to see whether supply exists and who currently holds it — and use related-rights lookup to find an approach.
- 5
Assess the ground itself
Quaternary faults and recent seismicity inform both the geologic model and the engineering, and they are on the same map as everything else.

Minerals and environmental both sit at the top of the ladder, and this workflow needs them together with water. Complete is the honest recommendation here.
