Carrier hotel
A colocation facility where many carriers terminate fiber, making it a natural interconnection and peering point.
Carrier hotels are where long-haul routes physically meet. Cross-connecting inside one is dramatically cheaper and faster than building between two separate buildings.
For a remote site, the relevant question is which carrier hotel a circuit from here would terminate at, because that facility determines both the available carriers and the effective latency floor.
