Carrier diversity
The presence of multiple independent network providers serving a site, on physically separate routes.
Diversity provides both redundancy and pricing leverage. Two carriers on the same conduit are not diverse — a single backhoe takes out both — so true diversity requires physically distinct paths, not just distinct invoices.
Single-provider sites pay more for transport and carry a real outage risk. Provider count is the fastest available proxy for both, and it is reported publicly.
