Streamflow
Also called: discharge
The volume of water moving past a point in a river per unit time, measured at gauging stations and reported in CFS.
Streamflow is measured indirectly: gauges record stage, or water height, and a rating curve converts stage to discharge. That is why gauge height and discharge both appear on a station and why an unrated or damaged station reports one but not the other.
Real-time streamflow is the cheapest available reality check on a water position. If the reach your right diverts from is running near zero in July, the priority date on the filing is a secondary question.
